It’s camp time again, and oh how my heart yearns to be there! Clinton Camp has been a HUGE part of my life. My clearest and best memories are of singing in the youth services. Sister Mary was technically “leading” the singing, but it was usually Sister Penny who determined just how many times we repeated a chorus! I loved it! It was easy to tell when she wasn’t quite “done” and we were going to sing it again. Wonderful memories. I knew even as a bratty teenager that these ladies had “the goods.” And even when I felt like Sister Judy was yelling at me, I knew she was doing her absolute best to save me from hell. Such a precious lady. God bless Clinton Camp! I will be praying for those of you who get to attend this year! God is so very faithful to us.

I will never forget the youth service when we sang “We’ve got the power” and “He’ll come walking on the waters” over and over again and all of the young people were praising God. Sister Penny never stopped playing the piano and Sister Mary just kept on singing. Sister Judy challenged us to keep our torches lit all year for Christ. Then Sister Hobbs went up and grabbed the christian flag and started walking around the tabernacle with it and all of the young people who made the pledge fell in step behind her. I was 17 at the time and it’s a memory that follows me wherever I go. Yes, we’ve got the power in the name of Jesus.

Sister Evans’ gracious spirit will be missed at Clinton Camp. What an example of a godly woman!

There is a ‘hello’ after ‘goodbye,’
A blessed reunion promised in time.
We will be with them for longer than we were without, no doubt,
In that beautiful, wonderful ‘hello’ after ‘goodbye.’

Many answers to prayer at Clinton Camp. One I recall, while running the dining room. Bro. Terry who was the “kettle washer” & always took one day off of the 10 that he labored in that hot, difficult spot. No one was ever interested in the kettle washing position. Prayerfully considering what to do the next day. One of the youth stepped up to me. “Sis. Pat, a man wants to talk to you.” Suddenly he stood before me stating, “I’m a truck driver. I came this way wanting to see Clinton Camp again. At 16 I was here, it made a great impact on my life. I washed kettles right in that spot, I am spending the night & I would like to wash kettles tomorrow if I may.” If he may???, WOW, does God ever know how to dazzle us with answered prayer, providing WHATEVER we need.” He stayed, he washed dishes on Terry’s day off. He left and the day after Bro. Terry was back at his post. God loves you, He does hear and answer prayer. Keep looking up…

Sis. Betty Fisher used to stand and shout… “THE DEVIL AIN’T GONNA LIKE THIS, BUT IT’S NONE OF HIS BUSINESS!!” She’d be off and shouting the glories of God. Oh, let us praise HIM. He is worthy of our praise. She’d mind God and it always sparked others to step out on the water and mind Him as well. Let us pray for the Fisher family, she lost her beloved… but she knows where he is. He is shouting praises around the throne today.

Thank God Clinton Camp still goes on. So much of my young life was spent there. God bless!

We had a nice camp, but was so hot. But enjoyed it. I loved working in the kitchen on the salad bar. We had a good group to work with this year and as usual Ellie made wonderful meals.
